dollar store got wise and started charging for broom handles and the broom head, trying to charge me $5 for the whole deal, 3 for the handle and 2 for the head.
i said fuck that because while they thought they were getting smart, they were dumb enough to write that they had over 1500 different products on the front of the store, which tells me that the cashier who works for close to minimum wage is n e v e r checking up on what each individual item costs and how it’s sold
so i put the broom handle and matching head together and kept my hand on the handle, a subtle move to hide the second barcode, saving me three dollars, and the confidence to walk out like i own the place
me, in the housewares aisle trying to think 19 moves ahead and exactly what my alibi will be for the police:
there are dumbasses in the notes saying shit like “none of those black people were innocent” which is A) absolute nonsense and B) completely irrelevant because not a single one of them got a trial which means they were innocent by default because they were never proven guilty. oh, he robbed a store? did you read him his rights and give him a trial? no? then you shot an innocent man, dipshit.
So we’re teaching girls to be anxious wrecks and boys to disregard the possibility of consequences for incautious behavior.
This explains a lot of things. Like… why women are anxious wrecks and men are frequently surprised when it turns out their actions do in fact have consequences.
And why men don’t bother asking for help even when they really need it, and thus more frequently die from treatable health conditions (including depression), while women end up getting a broad stereotype of being hypochondriacs (and then having a hard time getting treatment for legitimate health concerns).
Honestly I think it’s pretty amazing that Sarah Paulson, an openly queer woman, starred in and produced the number one show on Netflix where her character is in a lesbian relationship with a character played by another high profile, openly queer woman. Like that is not something I’ve seen before and it feels like a pretty big moment ♥️🌈
